At the Cheesemongers Fromagerie, two seemingly opposing themes, minimalism and rustic comfort come together to form a strong design concept and functional vision for the space. A former vacuum shop and neighbourhood institution is replaced by a new neighbourhood essential.

A light filled, airy interior is achieved through the primary palette of white painted surfaces, the natural light provided by the existing exterior glazing and through an increased ceiling height. Soft curves [arches, edges, furniture and floor pattern] add a feminine, organic touch and a tactile encounter. The exposed joist ceiling and other wood elements add warmth and comfort. These features create a space in which customers feel comfortable, enjoying Cheesemongers not only as a retail shop but as a meeting place to connect with others and to be educated and immersed in the world of fine cheeses.
